Rules
Authors: Write a fic of at least 10k set in a dystopian environment. Your story must have been betaed before posting.
Artists: Create at least one piece of original artwork for the story you claim. All art styles are welcome, but please check the FAQ for information on manipulations.
All participants must be at least 18 years of age upon signing up to take part in this bang.
Flaunting of these rules will lead to you being blocked from participation in this bang and potentially other events run by Dystopia’s mods.
Once your sign-up is complete, we will request all participants to answer the moderators in order to confirm emails. If no answer is received, sign-up will not be considered complete. A similar confirmation will be required after art claims. No answer at this point will be considered as a drop-out.
A challenge specific Discord Server will be linked to participants. Discussion of stories OR art outside of this server is forbidden, in order for claims to remain anonymous.

FAQ
What counts as dystopian?
Google (by way of the Oxford Dictionary) defines a dystopia as:
An imagined place or state in which everything is unpleasant or bad, typically a totalitarian or environmentally degraded one.
Beyond that, we leave the determination to your discretion as an author. Do you think it’s a dystopia? That works for us!
Can I write a fusion?
Absolutely! We encourage original settings if you want to create them, but we’d also love to see your Supernatural take on any other dystopian world.
What characters and ships can I write?
At least one character from Supernatural should have a prominent role, be it protagonist, villain, love interest, or morally ambiguous anti-hero. RPF is also allowed. You can include any ship you want, or none at all!
What can’t I write?
We won’t accept anything with graphic extreme underage sexual content. For the purposes of this challenge, we’re defining that as anything below the age of 16. While either child sexual abuse or consensual childhood sexual activity may be included in your plot, it cannot be depicted explicitly.
Other forms of abuse or non-consensual activity may be included, but must be warned for.
Please note that all major warnings should be applied on all works, not just regarding underage sexual content. Correct tagging makes it easier for the artists to pick work they will be comfortable with during art claims. And it makes it easier for readers when everything is posted in June.
Am I allowed to do photo manipulations for art?
Photo manipulations are allowed, but there must be some depth and craft to them. It is not okay to just submit screens from the show that have had their lighting changed or a border put around them.
Do I have to make a cover for the story I am paired with?
Artists are under no obligation to make covers for stories. But should you wish to make a cover - you may. Authors are also welcome to make covers, but they must discuss doing so with their artist first, to make sure two covers aren’t made.
May I sign up as both an artist and an author?
You may, but you will not be allowed to do art for your own story.
Do you have any beta readers I could contact?
There will be a list available via the Discord server.
Do I need a Tumblr/AO3/LJ/Pillowfort/Dreamwidth account to sign up?
All you need to sign up is an email, but your work will need to be hosted somewhere suitable for posting. For fics, that means being posted to AO3 in its entirety.
For art, that could be Tumblr, AO3, LJ, Dreamwidth, DeviantArt, Pillowfort, etc.
Do I have to submit a masterpost?
Either the author or artist in a team will submit one masterpost to the SPN Dystopia Bang Tumblr with links to both fic and art. We will provide information on how to do that nearer posting.
Do I have to link to the art post in the notes of my story on AO3?
Yes you do.
Do you have an AO3 collection that stories and art can be posted to?
There is an official AO3 collection to post to. The collection is SPNDystopiaBang2020.
How much of my fic needs to be complete by April 1st?
Your fic needs to be 80% complete in order to be eligible for art claims on that date.
