Summary 

In a world that has been ruined by humanity’s ruthless impact on the environment, there are only 10% of omegas left. As the last fertile humans with the ability to bear pups, they are given to alphas for the sake of mating. When Castiel is brought to his new alpha, a young man called Dean Winchester, they immediately fall for each other, and quickly forge a forbidden bond.   

Opening paragraph

Snowflakes fell from a gray sky, and Cas watched them melt on his red cotton covered thighs, shading them darker, almost the color of dried blood. When was the sky not gray? He couldn’t even remember having seen a patch of blue, though he must have… Someday. Someday before it had all happened, before the world had gone mad. Before omegas had been classified as incubators for the politically influential. In a time and place, where he’d had basic human rights but nowadays, his memory seemed to fail him more often, and all that had happened before the new world order was remembered in a distant haze. The world was separated in a before and an after. Before, he’d been an editor for leftist books and pamphlets, discussing feminist theories all day, like it was nothing special. After, he was waiting for the next alpha to rape him. Before, he’d spent his days mostly working, and had he known back then what freedom he’d lose, he would’ve cherished it more. Before, he’d felt safe walking the streets of Seattle. Now, he was staring at concrete, the world crumbling.
